Tier List Hub

Tower Defense X (TDX) by JOHN ROBLOX is not a single flat ranking game. Every tower has dual upgrade paths (top and bottom), towers can take damage and die, and maps force you to cover land, air, and sea lanes. That means a unit that looks S-tier on Intermediate can be mid on Expert if you picked the wrong path or forgot stealth coverage. Use this hub to jump into the right list for your stage of progression, then lock loadouts on the Players pages and practice the routes in Guides.

How TDX tier lists actually work

Traditional tower-defense lists rank “best DPS.” TDX ranks roles inside a five-to-six tower loadout under cash pressure. A Farm that prints economy can outrank a flashy DPS pick because without cash you never finish Railgunner or Golden Juggernaut upgrades before the boss wave. EDJ never deals damage, yet both of its paths sit at the top of almost every serious clear because firerate, range, and upgrade discounts multiply the whole board.

Path choice is mandatory reading:

  • Top path often leans utility, speed, or special targeting.
  • Bottom path often leans raw damage, tankiness, or economy efficiency.
  • Some towers flip that pattern — always check the upgrade tree before you commit gold.

Boss-heavy modes reward slow, high-impact shots (bottom Railgunner). Stealth waves punish boards without Laser Gunner or a detection partner. Water maps without Warship or another sea option leak hard. Support stacks of EDJ, John, Commander, and Medic turn average DPS into Expert-stable DPS.

Which list should you open?

  • New or returning after a long break → start with the Beginner Tier List for unlock order and early S/A/B picks on Easy and Intermediate.
  • Pushing Expert, Nightmare, or Endless → open the Expert Tier List for path-specific S ranks and anti-leak priorities.
  • Building a concrete squad → pair either list with Best Loadouts and the Towers Overview.
  • Learning TB II event modes → read TB II Collab then adapt Expert picks around Scout, Aviator, Phaser, and Void Traitor.

Meta snapshot (core roster)

These towers define most current clears. Full path notes live on the Expert page; beginners should unlock toward this core over time:

TowerTypical roleWhy it ranks high

TB II adds Scout, Aviator, Phaser, and Void Traitor. They are strong inside Casual / Hard / Nightmare / Voidmare event play and battle-pass progression, but they do not automatically replace EDJ or Farm on classic Expert maps. Treat them as flexible slots once the economy and support spine exists.

Modes and ranking context

Classic difficulty climbs from Easy → Intermediate → Elite / Expert → Nightmare, with Endless as a separate endurance test. The TB II collab adds Casual, Hard, Nightmare, and Voidmare inside the Void Realm / Genesis content. Casual is ideal for learning new towers and farming battle-pass tokens. Voidmare and high Nightmare demand the same discipline as classic Expert: early economy, stealth answers, and a dedicated boss killer.

If a creator video ranks a tower S without naming the path or the mode, treat that claim as incomplete. This wiki always pairs rank with path and mode so you do not waste gold on the wrong upgrades.

How to use rankings without tilting your account

  1. Fix leaks first (stealth, air, sea), then chase peak DPS.
  2. Keep at least one economy tower until your expensive path is funded.
  3. Place EDJ where its aura covers your main DPS cluster.
  4. Do not sell your only stealth detector mid-boss.
  5. Re-check the Expert Tier List after major patches listed on Updates.

Claim free rewards from Codes when they drop, then spend that cash on the unlock order in the beginner list. For mechanical basics, see Getting Started and Controls. For clear strategies, continue to How to Beat Expert and Void God.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Tower Defense X questions.

Why do TDX tier lists care about top vs bottom path?

Each tower has two upgrade paths with different strengths. Bottom Railgunner is a boss monster; the other path is not the same tool. Ranking without a path is incomplete.

Should beginners copy Expert S-tier immediately?

No. Follow the Beginner Tier List unlock order first. Expert picks like max Railgunner and Golden Juggernaut need Farm, EDJ, and map knowledge you unlock over time.

Do TB II towers replace classic meta towers?

Scout, Aviator, Phaser, and Void Traitor are excellent in event modes, but EDJ, Farm, Laser Gunner, and Juggernaut still anchor most classic Expert and Nightmare clears.

Where should I go after reading this hub?

New players open the Beginner Tier List. Veterans open the Expert Tier List, then Best Loadouts for a concrete five-tower squad.
