TB II Tower Defense X BETA TDX Endless Mode Gold & XP Guide

Wave cutoffs, Hourglass sustain, stealth forever, and when to stop instead of crawling to wave 201.

Endless Mode

Endless Mode is Tower Defense X’s long-form Gold and XP grind. Despite the name, it is not infinite—the ladder ends around wave 201, with enormous time, boss density, and power-up rewards if you push that far. Most efficient farmers do not crawl to 201 every session. They pick a stable difficulty/map, run a sustain loadout, and cut at a known efficient wave—often near wave 80—then sell down, bank rewards, and queue again.

Use this page with Gold Farming for currency routing, Best Loadouts for the Hourglass squad, the Expert Tier List for path picks, and How to Beat Expert if you still leak classic Expert before attempting long Endless scripts.

What Endless is for

GoalEndless role
Raw Gold / hourPrimary classic farm when cutoffs are clean
Raw XP / hourExcellent on deep stable runs
Power-upsLate waves pay heavy consumable rewards
PracticeBoss scripts from Easy through Expert remix into one ladder
CrystalsSecondary; Nightmare remains the Crystal specialist

Join the official Tower Defense X group for bonus starting Cash, redeem Codes before long queues, and decide before wave 1 whether this session is a cutoff farm or a prestige deep run. Mixing goals mid-match is how people tilt after wave 90 with a tired board.

Wave cutoff strategy (~wave 80)

High-rate players treat Endless like a timed factory:

  1. Stabilize early with Farm and EDJ so expensive carries arrive on time.
  2. Keep stealth detection online for the entire run—Endless leaks forever if you sell Laser Gunner for greed.
  3. Push to a practiced cutoff (community Gold farms often cite ~wave 80, around heavy bosses such as Calamity-era scripts).
  4. Sell down dead or low-value towers if the mode/reward rules make that profitable, end the run, and restart.
  5. Compare Gold and XP earned to minutes spent. A clean 80-wave reset often beats a sloppy crawl toward 150–200.

Wave 201 is the documented end of the ladder and pays massive Gold, XP, and power-up ceilings (including late nuclear-tier rewards on full clears). That is a weekend flex or power-up hunt, not the default weekday Gold loop. If your board is dying every ten waves after 80, you are not “almost there”—you are destroying Gold / hour.

Loadout: Endless Sustain (“Hourglass”)

Named on Best Loadouts, Hourglass is built for long runs where upgrade completeness and tower HP matter more than burst cheese:

| Slot | Tower | Path focus | Job | | --- | --- | --- | | 1 | Farm | Income (multiple if solo economy allows) | Endless cash | | 2 | EDJ | Top firerate/range once discounts matter less | Support | | 3 | Golden Juggernaut | Max carry | Stable DPS | | 4 | Laser Gunner | Stealth forever | Detection | | 5 | Medic | Sustain | Board HP | | Flex | John top or Missile Trooper | Amp vs cleanup | Wave texture |

Notes: Endless wipes often start when stealth or air answers were sold for one more Farm. Keep Laser Gunner online. Rotate selling only after a replacement detector exists. Bottom EDJ still helps while you are climbing GJ and late upgrades; lean top when the board is already maxed and needs output. Commander can replace John in coordinated co-op.

If you lack Golden Juggernaut, run Juggernaut plus stricter Medic discipline and accept earlier cutoffs until the Gold unlock is done.

Helicopter vs Golden Juggernaut

Unlock order should match your next currency goal, not vibes:

  • Helicopter-style / premium mobile DPS options often raise Expert and Endless Gold rates once you can micro them—strong when the goal is more Gold per hour on cutoff farms.
  • Golden Juggernaut is the sustain carry that shines when you pivot toward Nightmare Crystal farms and long Endless boards that eat unprotected towers. GJ ignores key resistances regular Juggernaut struggles with and pairs with Medic on return-fire maps.

If Gold is tight, buy one direction first. Helicopter-leaning Gold farms fund GJ later; buying GJ first makes Hourglass and Nightmare realistic sooner. Re-read Gold Farming when you are unsure which wallet is empty.

Stealth forever

Endless recycles stealth threats across the ladder. Rules that save runs:

  • Bring a stealth-capable Laser Gunner (or equivalent reveal) in the loadout—not as a “maybe flex.”
  • Do not sell your only detector to afford a vanity upgrade before a known stealth wave.
  • Set targeting intentionally (Controls); Strongest on boss guns, appropriate priority on detectors.
  • In co-op, call who owns stealth so three players do not assume someone else covered it.

A max Golden Juggernaut that cannot see invisible enemies is a very expensive spectator.

Micro and economy habits

  • Upgrade Farms on the wave break so income applies next wave.
  • Place EDJ auras on the DPS cluster, not decorative corners.
  • Replace dead Medics and EDJs immediately—Endless punish downtime harder than Expert.
  • Skip waves only when the board is truly stable; greed skips into boss scripts delete Gold / hour.
  • Track whether you are Gold-starved or Crystal-starved after each session; Endless answers Gold, Nightmare answers Crystals.

Practice order

  1. Clear Expert consistently with a spine from How to Beat Expert.
  2. Unlock Farm, EDJ, Laser Gunner, Medic, and a real carry (Juggernaut → GJ).
  3. Run Hourglass to a comfortable cutoff near wave 80; time the session.
  4. Compare Gold / hour to Expert medal loops—keep the better farm for your account stage.
  5. Attempt deeper pushes only after cutoffs feel boring.

Path reminders live on the Expert Tier List; dual-path commit habits are covered in Dual Upgrade Paths and Towers Overview.

Pick a cutoff, protect stealth, fund Hourglass, and reset while the board is still clean. That loop prints more Gold than heroically dying at wave 140.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Tower Defense X questions.

Does Endless Mode ever end in TDX?

Yes. Despite the name, the ladder ends around wave 201. Many farmers cut earlier—often near wave 80—for better Gold and XP per hour.

What is the best Endless loadout?

The Hourglass sustain set: Farm, EDJ, Golden Juggernaut, Laser Gunner, Medic, plus John or Missile Trooper in flex. Keep stealth online the whole run.

Should I always push to wave 200?

No. Clean cutoff resets around wave 80 often beat slow deep crawls unless you specifically want late power-ups or a full 201 clear.

Helicopter or Golden Juggernaut first?

Choose by goal: Helicopter-style picks can raise Gold farm rates; Golden Juggernaut matters more for long Endless sustain and Nightmare Crystal farms.

Why do I keep leaking stealth in Endless?

Endless recycles stealth threats all ladder long. Never sell your only detector; keep Laser Gunner (or another reveal) permanently in the loadout.
