Tower Defense X (TDX) is JOHN ROBLOX’s Roblox tower defense game that released on November 21, 2023. You defend with up to six towers, choose dual upgrade paths, manage tower HP when bosses shoot back, and cover land, air, and sea lanes in online co-op. This day-one guide gets you from first launch to a stable Intermediate / Elite loop without wasting Gold.

Install and first launch

1. Open Roblox and search for Tower Defense X (current lobby branding may show the TB II Collab title).
2. Launch into the hub. Find the Codes / megaphone button and redeem every active string listed on our Codes hub before you spend Gold.
3. Join the official Tower Defense X Roblox group. Group membership grants extra starting Cash each match—small early, huge over hundreds of games.
4. Skim Controls so you can place, upgrade both paths, sell, change targeting, and fire abilities without hunting UI buttons mid-wave.
5. Queue Easy or Tutorial once, then stay on Easy / Intermediate until you understand lane flow and when towers start taking HP damage.

Do not buy random shop cosmetics first. Gold buys permanent towers that define every future loadout.

TDX scales through a clear ladder. Treat each step as a skill gate, not a skip.

Event playlists for Tower Battles Part II add Casual, Hard, Nightmare, and Voidmare. Casual is the relaxed Token farm; Hard and above introduce Void God. Read Void God before Hard attempts.

Dual paths and tower HP

Every tower upgrades along a top path and a bottom path. You can mix early tiers (for example 3-2 or 2-3) before committing cash into a max line. Paths change damage type, range, stealth or air detection, and abilities—so the same tower name can play two different roles.

Unlike many Roblox TD games, towers have HP. Bosses and special enemies can stun, corrupt, or destroy your defense. That is why Medic, Combat Medic, bait bodies, and sell-replace micro matter on Expert and event Hard+. Selling a doomed tower refunds Cash and frees a placement slot; holding a dying glass cannon out of stubbornness loses the round.

Starter towers to buy first

Prioritize roles over hype:

• Farm — Income that funds mid and late upgrades. Bring it on long modes where damage Cash alone is too slow.
• Juggernaut — Durable land DPS with strong mid-to-late scaling. Power Minigun-style paths carry many public lobbies.
• EDJ — Support only (no damage). Firerate, range, and discount auras make expensive towers affordable. Essential before serious Expert attempts.
• Warship — Bring when the map has water / sea lanes. Land-only loadouts leak coastal maps no matter how strong your Juggernauts are.
• Laser Gunner / John — Cheap early damage and buffs that fill the remaining slots while you save for Railgunner or Golden Juggernaut later.

Your first six-tower loadout

Loadouts lock six towers before wave one. A simple beginner-friendly set looks like:

1. Early DPS (Laser Gunner, Operator, or John)
2. Farm
3. Juggernaut
4. EDJ
5. Anti-air / stealth coverage (Laser Gunner path, AA options, or Scout once unlocked from the Battle Pass)
6. Flex — Warship on water maps, Medic for survivability, or a second DPS for Elite

Named endgame sets live on Best Loadouts. In co-op, assign roles before wave one: one player farms economy, one covers stealth and air, one rushes boss DPS, one brings heals or bait.

First-hour checklist

1. Redeem every working code on Codes.
2. Join the official group for +Cash.
3. Buy Farm, Juggernaut, and EDJ; add Warship if you queue water maps.
4. Clear Easy, then Intermediate, until leaks are rare.
5. Practice targeting swaps from Controls during calm waves.
6. Bank Gold with Intermediate / Elite loops using tips from Gold Farming.
7. Read How to Beat Expert before your first Expert queue.
8. During the TB II collab, run Casual for Tokens and track rewards in Battle Pass.

Common beginner mistakes

• Spending Gold on skins before Farm and EDJ.
• Bringing six DPS towers and zero economy or detection.
• Ignoring sea lanes on coastal maps.
• Leaving every tower on default First targeting during boss waves that need Strongest or Last.
• Jumping into Expert without Medic / EDJ and without reading the Expert guide.
• Skipping group membership and free codes, then wondering why unlocks feel slow.
